On August 19, 2017, Witnesses to Hunger will host a Youth Forum + Back-To-School Party in West Philadelphia. The goal is to engage youth in advocacy work related to poverty and hunger and to develop a strong interest in community activism. We also want to support families who may need help preparing for the new school year.
From 11am to 4pm, we will have a fun-filled day at Lola 38 West (3750 Lancaster Avenue).
RSVP and Share on Facebook!!
The Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement will perform as well as members of The Village for Arts & Humanities.
Music provided by DJ DuiJi 13.
At 12pm, we will host a panel featuring panelists ages 12-18 who will speak the truth about their experiences as youth living in poverty and what they hope to see elected leaders do in City Councils, State Houses, and Congress.
Several organizations that work with youth and in the anti-poverty sectors will be on hand to provide important information to community members who participate. Looking for job training and college information?

This event will amplify the voices of young people in Philadelphia which often go unheard and we will help facilitate connections that could improve their lives (job readiness programs, GED prep, counseling, internships, etc.)
